Pros: Excellent machining; reinforcement 'bars' to prevent wrapping; enough weight to hold bacon strips flat during cooking.Cons: Dangerous handle design: The design of the handle mounting was not very well designed. If you look closely at the wood handle attachments to the handle supports, you can see that the aluminum supports are about the same level as the handle. And, the handle is too short for most of us 'wanna be' male chefs. This means that when we grasp the handle like we do about every tool that we have, parts of our hands are going to contact the aluminum support posts. And guess what? The aluminum support post will be about the same temperature as the bottom of the steak weight. You will only do this a time or two and the pain will go away - eventually. Aluminum transfers heat rapidly and this causes the handle supports to heat up at about the same rate as the base.The aluminum handle supports should have been to the outer ends of the Steak/Bacon weight allowing for a longer handle. I am going to take the handle off and try to put some heat shrink tubing on the top of the posts and see if this will help. If I don't then I know the next time I use the Steak/Bacon weight I will have lost the memory of the pain. And I will probably grab the handle like I normally would instead of daintily using two fingers and my thumb like I would if I was picking up an egg.Recommend: NO

I bought one of these a while back to combat "curly bacon syndrome." It came nicely packaged and on time. It's great for putting on steaks and bacon while cooking but it's not so great at keeping you from burning your hand.As you would expect the metal parts get very hot. The handle design makes it VERY easy to touch the metal and burn your hand. Use caution with this. I will look for a different design if/when I purchase another item like this.

Use all the time. Much better than cast iron does not rust. Would like a little bit more weight to it.
