I had an old thrift store pastry blender that I used for years until only half the blades were left. We tend to go through a batch of Master Mix a week in our home, so I needed another functional pastry blender. The only one I could find in the local stores was this Good Cook wire pastry blender. It functions, barely. It does ok on room temperature shortening, but bends all over the place when I try to use it on cold butter. The way the wires bend, I keep thinking they're going to break, but they haven't yet. After a year though, it's reached the point where I have to slice the butter a bit with a knife before taking the mangled wires to it in my mix. Also, the little tabs on the handle have started popping out at random times when I'm mixing. They pop right back in without a problem, but it is a minor annoyance. Basically, the pastry blender is faster than working with just a couple knives, but it's time to replace it with a better model.

I usually like Wilton products, I really do. So when I finally decided let's upgrade from a fork to a real pastry blender, I found this one. Big mistake. Only two reasons why, but big enough for me to dislike this item immensely.Issue one - the tines are wire, not blades. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but you want to be cutting through the butter, shortening, etc. Dull wire just squashes the fats.Issue two - tines too close together. OK, if these were blades maybe it would be OK. But having so little clearance between them and being dull, well, using a plain old fork works a lot better than this thing.My suggestion, purchase any pastry blender with blades and not wires and you will save lots of time and frustration.

I got this mostly because I am lazy... I wanted a dishwasher-safe beater blade. The bowl scraping effect is just a nice benefit. The NewMetro Design Rose Levy Beranbaum Beater Blade for 6-Quart KitchenAid Lift Mixer, Rose Colored is dw safe, and works very well on cake batters, soft doughs, and frostings. I don't know that it has cut my mixing times in half as claimed, but it does a thorough job. You will probably have to adjust your mixing bowl position and still have to scrape the beater itself mid-mix... it's good, but not magic. :)

I purchased the NewMetro Design Rose Levy Beranbaum Beater Blade for my KitchenAid 600 Professional mixer from Amazon. The blade fits the mixer and seems to work well in keeping the batter deeper inside the bowl and not on the sides. I do think that it is a bit noisy during it use. At first, I thought maybe it wasn't seated correctly or not quite tight, but that it not the case. It is noisy each time I have used it but works.

I took a chance on this brush with no reviews and it was a mistake.I've had the brush since October and it still sheds any time I try to use it. I tried using it several times and each time was tasked with picking the bristles from whatever I was making. Did not contact company or Amazon since it's a very low ticket item not worth the hassle to return.If it did not have the shedding issue, this could be a good brush. The handle is nicely balanced and it appears to be well made, until you try to use it. Not sure what makes the bristles come out constantly but they sure do.This is not the pastry brush you are looking for.

I tried one of the thicker, blade cutter style pastry blenders, but those are really for heavier doughs. For the lightweight stuff I do (streusel, etc.), this style works better because it doesn't clog up as readily, and is much easier to swipe clean.Inexpensive, but I was surprised how hard it was to find these locally. I avoid big box stores like Wal-Mart and Target, so it was much easier to just order it on-line and get Prime's free delivery.

I have used several different style pastry blenders(cutters) but this tried and true design is the best for cutting shortening into flour or making that crumbly streusel . Easy to clean and no sharp blades to cut anyone.Im a guy who loves to bake and and I go to great lengths to find the right tool to to a job.This is the right to to make pastry.Dont mess with the fix steel blades that are sharp and difficult to clean...

Cracked after one month occasional use

This is my first review on amazon. This board(light color part) is not original marble, looks like some glue-together cracked pieces, at least my piece is not a whole piece. After 1 month occasional use, it cracked from the middle...and now it is no way to change or refund, the return policy says: "If you return this item, you will receive a partial refund according to our Returns Policy. Shipping fees will not be refunded, and you will need to pay for return shipping." This piece is so heavy, so I think no one will do that stupid thing.Just go and get a original whole piece board.

First package come very nice and pack well.The second come with one piece damage, cracked all in pieces.This package was pack in: Way to big box - on the first place and hove not enough protection inside the box. Everything was louse. Those pieces are solid and heavy.I sanded Back for Replacement to avoid the charges....This wasn't that bad yet - because it happens......And replacement was ship....Then I went today to check the Shipment Tracking and I sow this message:"Shipment damaged and will not be delivered"That was the last thing I could expected from this company.....I do need all four pieces to finish My project, I either get My fourth peace or I have to send all back. Don't know yet!!!!!!This is a lot for one person to handle...,NOT HAPPYNOT SATISFIEDTO MUCH TROUBLEUpdate:05/12/2012I just received today the third replacement package for my Creative Home 2-Tone Marble Pastry Board, 12-Inch by 18-Inch, and even this one is cracked in half, and this piece was not even look like the one I ordered originally, was all "Black Marble" not a Champagne and Charcoal Marble two tone.
