I have owned this pastry blender for at least three years now and I love it. The wires are stiff enough to easily cut together the fat (be it butter or shortening) and the flour without bending, yet it is simple to run your fingers over to clean them off (unlike the pastry blenders that have blades). I use this tool a LOT... at least 3 times a month, usually more, for pie crust, pastry dough, scones, etc and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something sturdy and useful.

I got this pastry blender for my daughter for Christmas because the picture looks very much like a pastry blender that was given to me by my grandmother when I married, which I still use.However, when the actual product arrived, it was not like the picture. It has some weird stainless steel thumbrest-looking thing on one side of the handle. As far as I can see, it is not removable. So much for the nostalgia. If there had been time to return it and get a different one before Christmas, I would have.Also worth mentioning, when I put it my cart it was 6.99. Just a few days later when I wanted to order it, it was 10.54. Now it is 6.99 again. Who could be happy about that? I sure hope they didn't add an extra 3.50 for the ugly appendage that was not pictured.

It really doesn't have the heft needed to do pastry. The wooden handle's diameter is too small to fit comfortably in any but a child's hands.
