Bought this product for a christmas present for a person who LOVES to cook and bake. The cake tester is heavy and that of professional quality. This cake tester was bought to replace an old worn out thin cake tester. This product seems to have the potential to be a product that will be used year after year (or cake after cake).

The stainless steel cake tester worked well on the two banana breads I made so far. It should have been cushioned better for shipping because it came in a little bent. I was, however, able to straighten it out. Without a doubt, this little thing beats using toothpicks. I washed the cake tester by hand although it is dishwasher safe. It washed and dried well. The tear drop top makes it easy to locate in my gadget drawer. While I love OXO products, the reviews of this stainless steel cake tester - 8" were far better than the one made by OXO and that's why I bought it. It's an inexpensive item and is well worth buying.
