I got this mostly because I am lazy... I wanted a dishwasher-safe beater blade. The bowl scraping effect is just a nice benefit. The NewMetro Design Rose Levy Beranbaum Beater Blade for 6-Quart KitchenAid Lift Mixer, Rose Colored is dw safe, and works very well on cake batters, soft doughs, and frostings. I don't know that it has cut my mixing times in half as claimed, but it does a thorough job. You will probably have to adjust your mixing bowl position and still have to scrape the beater itself mid-mix... it's good, but not magic. :)

I purchased the NewMetro Design Rose Levy Beranbaum Beater Blade for my KitchenAid 600 Professional mixer from Amazon. The blade fits the mixer and seems to work well in keeping the batter deeper inside the bowl and not on the sides. I do think that it is a bit noisy during it use. At first, I thought maybe it wasn't seated correctly or not quite tight, but that it not the case. It is noisy each time I have used it but works.
